5 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN SETTING UP YOUR BABY REGISTRY

Understanding the basics of setting up your baby registry is key. Lets discuss the 6 most important things to consider when making your registry list.

1- A Baby Registry is NOT just for Baby! When considering what you may need or want don’t forget yourself!!! There are just as many items that women need during pregnancy and during the postpartum period (after baby is born) as does the newborn. This may seem selfish asking for items for yourself but keep in mind, Mama needs to be happy and healthy to be the best mom she can be!

2-When to Start your Registry I believe that the best time to begin registering is about 5 months pregnant (20 weeks). If you find out the sex of your baby early, it is easier to choose gender specific items if you desire. Some women opt to wait to find out whether baby is boy or girl until delivery. Either way, you can choose all the items you need for becoming a “NEW MOMMY” and for your little new one.

3- Choosing Essential vs Nonessential Items There are many products you will definitely need for youself and for the newborn. However, there are so many items that you nmy not necessarily need, but they are so great and it would be so cool to receive! You’ll definitely have family and friends who will get you more practical items, and those that will want to get you the really cute, fun baby stuff! I would recommend registering for both types of items. The registry has such a phenomenal range of items and products you can register for and the more you include, the more options you give your family and friends to choose from.

4- Price Range It’s always difficult to know what range to set on the costs of the gifts you choose. It’s easy to feel guilty about not wanting to register for a higher priced product/item such as a crib or a breast pump. However, there is no harm in placing them in your register as there will always be a wide range as to what family/friends would like to give you in terms of cost- such as friends going in together to purchas a higher cost item for you and the baby. Always make sure you choose lower cost items as well for often these are the essentials you’ll definitely need and appreciate!

5- Brand Selection If you look at my Amazon Shopping Page, you’ll see that I have chosen select items that I feel would be worthy of my endorsement. This does not mean there are no other products just as good so keep in mind there are many different brands of products available and the Amazon Baby Registry will list those as well within their details page of a product. For example, you may select to look at a Medala breast pump, and on that page, alternative options will be presented. It may happen that someone in your family or circle of friends has had a different experience using a particular brand than I have listed. Different strokes and all that right!?

6- Bonus Tip

What I have also seen becoming popular are subscriptions or memberships that send products or items every month or every three months for a designated amount of time. One recently noted is "BABY BUMP” which provides mothers-to-be with a box full of gifts appropriate to the trimester of pregnancy she is entering. Family and friends may be interested in sending a gift that would be received over time. Amazon has a subscribe and save program that does just that. For example, if they wanted to send you a box of diapers once a month for 6 months- it would automatically be sent! This is not only great for gift giving, but for new mothers it could definitely save time and money when getting items you would need regularly from the store, and it’s delivered right to your door!
