Fitness Apps for diet and exercise
Fitness Apps i recommend

I currently use three different apps for fitness on a daily basis. Keep in mind that I don't actually have to work out daily and that they track my progress on an on-going basis. This is great because I feel that it is important to keep in mind the big picture of my health and fitness level not only on a daily basis, but week to week and month-to-month. I can get a feel for my progress and improvement as I go.

So here is a breakdown of the tech that I use and that apps that they offer to help me achieve the best me possible. They are broken down into two catagories:

  1. Diet and Nutrition

  2. Exercise Tracking and Calorie Expenditure

You dont need to be an expert or an exercise junky to utilize these tools- I find it fun and interesting to get a frequent snapshot of my progress whenever I'd like.

My Diet and Nutrition tracking is done via:

My Fitness Pal. It provides me with data on daily calorie intake and macro nutrition. The app I use is the free version but you can puchase a premium addition for a nominal fee. I do have to manually imput the foods I eat but it has an extensive listing of common food choices to easily choose from, listing the serving sizes and calories of each serving. It even lists different brands as well. You can also track your calories burned each day if you use the exercise tracker. However, the exercise log does not give you a great listing of exercises and the calories they burn so its not that accurate.

2. My Exercise Plans/Workouts are tracked using the Fitbod and Strong apps. These two apps allow me choose workout routines for each day focusing on individual muscle groups and actually track sets and repititions. Cardio workouts are also designed to your preference and, best of all, it is pretty accurate in counting the amount of calories burned. There is some level of a learning curve when it comes to using the technology and also, can be challenging if you are not familiar with standard equipment and exercises. Bonus though- they do provide helpful instructional videos and written descriptions of each exercise for your assistance.

In addition, I also utilize my new AppleWatch which has the Apple Activity Program that is very engaging because it encourages you to complete several healthy daily fitness habits such as required walking(steps), standing, moving and general exercise acheivements.

Make your fitness journey exciting, manageable and more rewarding by using one of these or similar fitness tools tp track short term and long term goals.

I will go more into depth on each one that I've discussed here in this post in the near future with an YouTube video.
